Area 81 Racing

Area 81 Racing was formed in 2007 by Tim Pierce and Richard Franklin after several successful seasons in SCCA Solo (also known as AutoX). The pair purchased a Reynard Formula Continental with intentions to earn their road racing competition license and competing wheel to wheel. In late 2007, Tim purchased a Formula Continental of the same make and model. After earning their competition licenses, they would stage epic battles with one another in the Southeast Division. The team traded their machines for faster, more modern Formula 1000s in 2011. With speeds capable of 169mph, their class is one of the fastest in amateur road racing.

Tim Pierce, who is also a Customer Support Engineer for Waterfall Securities Solutions in North America, approached Waterfall with the idea of sponsorship in 2012 and it was quickly embraced by the Management. The team has not failed to impress, as Tim and Richard are regulars on the podium and at the top of the annual championship point rankings. Recent accomplishments include SARRC F1000 Champion, NC Region Formula Driver of the Year, Southeast Championship Series F1000 Champion, and multiple National and Regional SCCA podiums.

“Sports car racing is a great way to build employee pride and develop camaraderie with our customers. We are very proud of Tim, Richard, and the entire team’s efforts and accomplishments,” said Lior Frenkel, Waterfall CEO.

Team

Waterfall/Area 81 Racing has hosted partners, customers and their families at well-known racing venues in the US and Canada, such as Road Atlanta, Roebling Road, New Jersey Motorsports Park, and Watkins Glen. The team has also raced at Mosport, Daytona International Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Road America, Carolina Motorsports Park, and the world famous US Formula 1 track, Circuit of the Americas. Their all access entry entitles Waterfall clients and employees to see parts of the track previously only seen on television. It also includes team paddock access, team merchandise, and crew support.

“Waterfall should be proud to sponsor such a great team like yours. You not only treated Dan and I like VIPs as Waterfall customers but also displayed the Waterfall logo in a very professional and very visible manner. Make sure that you have work for me to do as I really enjoyed helping in the pits. I will follow Area 81 Racing on Facebook and your website,” said Robert Nellis – IT Analyst at Constellation Ginna, Rochester, NY.
